It’s something rarely seen nowadays, so when it actually happens, it makes your day; The simple act of kindness.

My house experienced an act of kindness, when a stranger returned my roommates camera that was lost on St. Patrick’s Day. It’s sad that nowadays we would expect no one to return the camera and to instead keep it for their own personal benefit, but it’s nice knowing that there are still kind hearted people who choose to go out of their way and take time out of their day to do the right thing.

I experienced another act of stranger kindness last holiday season when people were rushing into Kmart’s to pay off stranger’s layaways. My roommate was so enthralled with the story that she actually paid off a stranger’s layaway and, no joke, that same day she was at the drive-thru at Starbucks and the car in front of her paid for her drink. I’m a true believer in karma and this pay it forward like story just made me want to do something similar.

My new favorite thing to do is to put money in meters that are out. Parking police here are crazy good, so I can only hope that I’ve saved someone from that day ruining parking ticket.
